Christmas Songs–the third half.

Well, being part of this triumvirate, I guess it behooves me to contribute to the (Favorite?)Christmas Carols thread.   Never really having been a fan of this music genre (boring lyrics, repetitive refrains and syrupy notes) put me at a little of a disadvantage until I realized that there were actually a few that I kinda, sorta liked somewhat.   Mostly my tastes run to Eric Idle’s  “Effing  Xmas” and Kevin Bloody Wilson’s* “HO HO effing HO” (thanks for the recommendation, Joe) but if you want to hear those you can search them out on your own and then I can’t be accused of trying to subvert your children and spoil all future Christmases for them.  So, here we go.

Merry Christmas, by The Ramones

Father Christmas by the Kinks

Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC

Soulful Christmas by the master himself, James Brown

Christmas Card from a hooker in Minneapolis by Tom Waits

And of course, Santa Claws is Coming to Town by Alice Cooper

All right then.  Pass around the eggnog and fruitcake and enjoy.

* We were at a Christmas party Saturday night, sitting next to an Aussie, and, well, somehow the conversation worked itself around to Kevin Bloody Wilson (as in, we asked the Aussie if he’d ever heard of him) and he was quite surprised, awed, and filled with wonder that an American knew of this bloke!  Thanks again, Joe.

curses, you took my Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC! but that’s okay, ’cause i have at least one more that you are going to LOVE!!! and, given your tastes, may i suggest that you check out this , Mr. Hankey’s Christmas Classics, because surely you know and love Mr. Hankey, the Christmas poo, from “south park”! and you’d better replace the eggnog with bourbon straight out of the bottle before watching!

i’m having trouble with the link, but go to and choose season three, episode called Mr. Hankey’s Christmas Classics. and you probably should not let your significant other, children, or animals listen in! trust me, you need to keep this to yourself!!! enjoy and mazel tov!!

if you can’t find it, let me know!!
